I read Dr. Maisel’s article, and I’m not convinced. It may be that depression is over-diagnosed, and that some people who have been told they have depression may just be unhappy. But Dr. Maisel doesn’t talk about the physical symptoms: e.g. lethargy, loss of appetite, insomnia.
Ray, I agree than Dr. Maisel misses the point a bit – just how grinding the physical symptoms of depression are. For periods of time, they can be unremitting. Thanks for your input.
